Leon Balents elected as a Fellow of the American Physical Society

UC Santa Barbara physics professor and permanent member of the university's Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics (KITP) Leon Balents was elected as Fellow of the American Physical Society. According to the organization, “criterion for election is exceptional contributions to the physics enterprise” and “fellowship is a distinct honor signifying recognition by one’s professional peers.”

Balents was nominated for his work on the theory of new topological quantum phases of electrons in condensed matter.
