Educated at the University of Pisa and the Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa), Prof. Treu has been a member of the UCSB Physics faculty since 2004. Among many other awards, he has received the UCSB Harold J. Plous Award for exceptional achievement in 2008, and the American Astronomical Society’s Newton Lacy Pierce Prize for outstanding achievement in observational astronomical research in 2010. His research focuses on the formation and evolution of galaxies, groups and clusters, including the coupled evolution of the luminous, dark matter and black hole components.
