Physics alumnus presents solutions for maintaining ethical global supply chains at the UCSB Physics Career Colloquium

Our Department colloquium this week was on "Physics, Policy, and Phones," by Kohl S. Gill, who earned his Physics PhD from UCSB with Professor Mark Sherwin on Far Infrared Spectroscopy of Single Electrons in Tunable Coupled Quantum Dots.  Dr. Gill is now President and CEO of LaborVoices, Inc., a company that uses crowdsourcing to prevent factory fires, suicides and human trafficking in global supply chains.  At the same time, the company provides inexpensive and accurate information to companies on their supply chains, better enabling them to protect their brand identities.

A Physics PhD can provide students with the foundation to truly make a difference in the world in many different and surprising ways!

Read how his career path took him from science labs to labor rights in the UCSB GradPost!
