Welcome to UCSB Astrophysics & Cosmology!

The UCSB Physics Department houses the campus's astrophysics research, ranging form experimental work on the cosmic microwave background to observational work at the University of California/California Institute of Technology operated Keck Observatories in Hawaii and theoretical work in all parts of astrophysics.  Frequent seminars and graduate courses in astrophysics allow students to learn the fundamentals of the field and become acquainted with the rich research opportunities. The campus astrophysics effort is enhanced by frequent programs at the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics that attract world-class theoretical astrophysicists for extended periods, as well as postdoctoral researchers in astrophysics.
