Department of Education approved
Grants from the US Department of Education support the UCSB Physics Department's GAANN Program. Our GAANN Fellowships in Physics are awarded to exceptional students who demonstrate high academic achievement, promise for a successful career in research and higher education, and interest in inspiring younger students' enthusiasm for science or in fostering engagement of traditionally under-represented groups in physics.
Our Goal...
We are committed to bringing the best and brightest students to complete their PhD here at UCSB.

The GAANN Fellows are very excited to promote the "Prize for Prospective UCSB Grad Students." You and the faculty mentor of your choice may receive an all-expense paid trip to visit the beautiful UCSB campus, tour our world-class physics research facilities, and sit in on some of our fantastic graduate physics classes. Funds are available to traditionally under-represented groups (African-American, American-Indian, Chicano/Latino, Puerto Rican, or Pacific Islander) in physics.
