Network Support includes:

·        10/100 copper switched ethernet to each network device.

·        Connectivity to the Internet and within the building.

·        Configuring the port to the required network.

·        Adding and changing DNS (name service) entries and DHCP entries.

·        Creation of accounts on (Virtual Private Network) VPN services

·        Configuration of routers and switches to support the Physics community.

·        E-mail accounts for all faculty, staff, grad students, postdocs., including a reasonable amount of mail and file storage. The storage amount is based on the amount of storage available, divided by the current number of users.

·        Web server hardware and web page storage for faculty, staff, grad students, postdocs.

·        In general, problems which can be attributed to systems under department ownership and control. Misconfiguration of user systems or incompatibility with department systems is not covered, and is billed at the hourly rate.

Network Support is intended for those machines running the operating systems listed in the supported OS list. Operating systems which are not recommended include:

·        Solaris OS

·        Digital Unix

·        Other Linux flavors other than listed in the supported OS list

·        NextStep

·        Ultrix OS

·        OS/2

·        Other Unix flavors

·        QNX

·        Novell Netware
