Course Description: This is the
third quarter of our introductory physics sequence for physics majors.
This quarter we will study waves and sound, and various aspects of
electricity.
Text: Physics (fifth edition) by
Halliday, Resnick and Krane. We
will cover chapters 18 and 19 in volume 1, and chapters 25-31 in volume
2. We will spend roughly one week per chapter.
Homework:
There will be weekly homework assignments that will be due in the
physics 23 homework box.
Midterms: There will be two
midterms. The first will be Mon. Oct. 23 and cover
chapters 18, 19, and 25. The second will be Fri. Nov. 17 and cover
chapters 26, 27, and 28. These will be closed book exams, but I will
give you a sheet of paper will all the key formula. No calculators.

Final: The final will be
December 15, 12:00-3:00pm. This is also a closed book exam. You will be
able to bring your reference formula from the midterms.
Grading: The homework will
count 20%, the
midterms will count 20% each, and the final will count 40%.
