The Mysterious Glass Transition
Professor Jim Langer UCSB Physics |
He will discuss his theoretical work on phase transitions in disordered materials, as recently described in his column in Physics Today. He will also discuss his informative perspective of where physics is headed, and how it may evolve through the next generation of physicists.
Jim is a leader in theoretical physics and in the physics community as a whole. He has served as president of the National Academy of Sciences and of the American Physical Society, and has received many prizes and fellowships in honor of his work in theoretical condensed matter physics.
So, come to the grad seminar and hear about his groundbreaking work, and where our field may be headed in the coming decades! Refreshments will be provided! |
