Tuesday, April 3rd: Searching for dark matter

Event Date:

Tuesday, April 3, 2018 - 4:00pm

Event Location:

  • KITP Main Seminar Room
  • Physics Colloquium

Dark matter is one of the biggest mysteries in physics today. In this talk, I’ll discuss the challenges facing physicists seeking to directly detect dark matter particles, and what makes up an ideal dark matter detector.  I will explore two technologies that deal with those challenges in different but complimentary ways, liquid xenon time projection chambers and bubble chambers.
