The annual Undergraduate Physics Research Symposium will be held online through Zoom on September 4, 2020. We encourage all undergraduate physics students to pursue research during their time at UCSB by providing them with an outlet for their intellectual creativity. It is important that students are capable of not only delving deep into the specific realm of physics, but also telling their story to their fellow physics colleagues of another field.

This meeting, as requested in a letter to the faculty that was signed by over 100 department members, will focus on the issues that have led to racial disparity within the department and university and on improvements we can make together.   We ask the participants to consider the issues and what we can do before the meeting. We look forward to hearing your ideas.
