Visiting Scholars

Dear Visiting Colleague,

We welcome you to the Physics Department at UCSB! In order to facilitate your visit, please review the following information and submit the requested visitor access forms at least two weeks before your scheduled arrival date.

Prepare for your visit

Short Term Visitors (of 2 weeks or less)
  • Visitor Office: We are happy to provide you with accommodations in Broida Hall.  Upon receipt of your Visitor Information Form, we will send you an email with details on your visitor office, and where to collect your keys.  At that time, please complete the following steps:
    • Building Access Request Form: Please complete the three steps outlined on the Building Access webpage so that your office and building keys will be available for pick-up on your arrival.  http://www.physics.ucsb.edu/resources/materialsmanagement/buildingaccess
    • Online safety training: You must complete the online office and/or laboratory safety training before you may be issued a key or doorcode to the facilities.   As a short-term visitor, please log onto the UCSB Learning Center safety training via the Non-Employee Log On, and follow the instructions for access provided there.
Long-Term Visitors (of more than 2 weeks)
  • UCSB Affiliated Net ID: You will need You will need a UCSB Net ID in order to access most facilities and resources on campus including campus WiFi and access to Broida Hall and the Library.  Please complete and return the online Visitor Information Form to establish your UCSB Net ID.
  • Visitor Office: We are happy to provide you with accommodations in Broida Hall.  Upon receipt of your Visitor Information Form, we will send you an email with details on your visitor office, and where to collect your keys.  At that time, please complete the following steps:

  • Department Mailbox:  When completing the building access request form, please also select a 6 digit doorcode so that you may access your mailbox in the faculty/staff mailroom, Broida 3014.
  • Computer Access: In order to establish a computer account, please complete the three steps outlined on the Physics Computing Services (PCS) website.  Note that if your visit will be for longer than one week, please complete the computer account request form for faculty/staff/students.  http://web.physics.ucsb.edu/~pcs/policies/.
