[Colloquium] Shining Light on Quantum Phenomena in Real-World Materials – Chenhao Jin
Update 10/20: NEW LOCATION
There has been a location change for this afternoon’s colloquium. It will now be held at the Simons Amphitheater in the KITP, not the Kavli Auditorium. Please see the revised details below:
Speaker: Chenhao Jin, UCSB
Title: “Shining Light on Quantum Phenomena in Real-World Materials”
Abstract:
A central challenge of quantum science is connecting quantum mechanical motion of microscopic particles to emergent properties in macroscopic systems. In this colloquium, I will discuss our efforts to bridge this gap. By establishing new material platforms and experimental capabilities, we aim to obtain both macroscopic properties, such as thermodynamic phases, and microscopic information, such as space-time correlation, in the same quantum system, thereby directly connecting and unifying the two perspectives.
