Title: Charged particle production and superradiance
Abstract:
Over the last few years it has been understood that black holes close to extremality receive large quantum gravity corrections to their properties. In this talk I will explain how near-extremal charged black holes emit charged particles, and clarify in which regimes quantum gravity effects become important. I will also explain the relationship between two seemingly distinct channels for charged particle production: Schwinger pair production in the presence of a background electric field, and charged superradiance.
