Title: Cosmic censorship in a (dual) collider
Abstract:
I will discuss cosmic censorship in holographic models in which the ground state is described by a good singularity on the gravity side. These include supersymmetric truncations of string/M-theory. At the boundary, the solutions I will discuss describe a boost-invariant fluid in which the temperature decreases with time. On the gravity side, they correspond to black-brane spacetimes with a receding horizon on which curvature invariants grow without bound. I will argue that no fine-tuning is necessary in the sector of initial conditions that preserve boost invariance asymptotically. At late times, the boundary dynamics may be well described by hydrodynamics despite the failure of General Relativity in the bulk. I will finally comment on how quantum gravity effects in the bulk, or equivalently 1/N effects at the boundary, may modify the approach to the singularity.
