Title: Gravitational path integral and partial Cauchy slice holography

Abstract: We propose a new approach to holography for finite subregions, extending the idea of Cauchy slice holography due to Wall et al. We study states prepared by boundary conditions on bulk partial Cauchy slices, propose a corresponding Hilbert-space structure, and probe these states using entropic diagnostics. We work out explicit examples for both time-reflection-symmetric and non–time-reflection-symmetric slices. We also find that conformal boundary conditions appear more natural for ensuring positivity of the inner product. Finally, we discuss a "failure mode" of the construction, and postulate on the resolution.
