Title: Random Lattice Actions
Abstract: Discretising path integrals inevitably leads to “lattice artifacts” that must be systematically understood in order to calculate continuum correlation functions. Artifacts associated to the breaking of continuum rotation symmetries to the symmetries of a fixed regular lattice can be removed by utilising actions defined on random lattices. Random-lattice path integrals form the first step towards simulating QCD on curved backgrounds. Another example are artifacts associated to the digitization of SU(3) gauge group for quantum computer simulations. Regular digitizations (such as to a subgroup) lead to problems which can be avoided by abandoning the crystalline structure. I’ll discuss the benefits of using t-design-digitization for this purpose.
