Title: “Collisionless Self-Interacting Dark Matter”

Abstract:

I will discuss a new class of self-interacting dark matter models in which dark matter possesses feeble, long-range self-interactions. In these models, dark matter can exhibit collective, plasma-like effects analogous to those in Standard Model plasmas. I will describe how these effects can modify structure on galactic and sub-galactic scales and may help address tensions between predictions of cold dark matter simulations and observations. Finally, I will discuss existing and novel numerical techniques for studying the resulting dark matter dynamics.
